Idaho Man Shoots Mama Grizzly Bear before it kills his kids, goes to court

Standing in front of the judge you say to him, "Imagine for a moment... you live in the boondocks.  You have 6 kids.  You love America and provide for your family and have no care for the government because it doesn't care about you.  You know the Fish and Game Warden is technically part of the federal government but you know the local warden by name.

Your kids are playing outside having fun and you see out of the corner of your eye a big mama grizzly bear rumbling into the yard.  You look to see the kids.  They haven't noticed.  You look back at the bear.  It has seen the kids and has started toward them.

Scenarios start shooting through your mind.  You envision bloody bodies of your kids, arms strewn around and legs missing bodies.  This will not stand.  Imagine if you didn't do anything, if you let the bear eat your kids, maul your kids, imagine what the neighbors would ask?  "Didn't you see the bear?"  "Where was your gun?"  "Why didn't you do anything?"  Imagine the personal anguish of losing one or two kids to a bear if not more.

No.  Where was your bolt action rifle?  There wasn't much time.  The bear was in the middle of the yard now.  One or two more seconds and the kids would notice it.  Then all hell would break loose.  Then for a split second, a thought enters your head.  Grizzly bears, especially females, are on the endangered species list.  Your children are not.  Heck, people are aborting babies all over the place but bears?  What if I shoot the bear?  Would I be arrested for shooting a mama grizzly?  Surely any Boundary County bureaucrat in my boots would do the same if it meant their children.  Would those pencil neck geeks actually NOT kill the bear because it was federally protected only to have one or two of their kids killed and then be brought up on child negligence charges or child endangerment charges?

If you don't act now you'll be down two kids, you think.  Sometimes it makes sense to act now and think through your options later.  When it means your kids' lives there isn't much to think about.

HEY!  You shout.  Attracting the eyes of both kids and the mama grizzly.  With the rifle raised and the bear in your sites, you pull the trigger and save your kids' lives."

The court room falls silent.  You see those bureaucrats squirm.  You can hear the people supporting you outside.  Surely there aren't any bear supporters outside, but there's a first for everything.  You look at your wife in the back of the courtroom.  You see your 6 kids.  And wait for the verdict...

AT&T T-Mobile Merger and my co-worker

Yesterday my co-worker blew up about politics.  Now she is not political, she's hispanic (she's taught me so much about her culture and food) and a very energetic and a good worker (she has 2 jobs and other side jobs!).  Her father came from Puerto Rico when they were young and have struggled but are doing well.  Her father must have taught her his work ethic.

She freaked out about the AT&T and T-Mobile merger yesterday when she read an article about Washington getting involved.  I sat there agreeing with her without much info.  But the reason she was so annoyed is that she is a T-mobile customer with her hacked iPhone.  (long story)  She can't stand T-mobile and was somewhat suckered into signing another year contract with T-mobile until August of 2012.  She went on a 10 minute rant on their customer service and how they screwed up her trip to Germany where she couldn't contact ANYONE with her T-mobile account and the response after the trip from the employee was, "We just saved you lots of money so why are you so ticked off?"

The silver lining was that AT&T was going to buy them out.  She was so excited about this and now it was dashed upon the rocks.  We talked about free market principles in this situation.  I mentioned that T-mobile didn't have a gun to their head, they agreed to this deal because they agreed that it made good economic sense.    My co-worker also tells me that T-mobile is in bad shape.  So this would have been a big boost to T-mobile.

There's still Sprint right?  There's still Verizon right?  Anybody have a good piece about this merger from a conservative angle?

Congressional Black Caucus: Inciting Race Riots because they fear their power is waning

Wait a second.  Why are these black politicians saying that government cutting back on spending is bad for black people... if the government spending is only going to black people?  Why are they angry about this?  Don't they believe that black people are capable of making it on their own?  Do they think that black people NEED government spending?  Why do they need government spending?

Rush said it right on Wednesday when he said during his show that Democrats were the ones doing the lyching in the south.  NOT REPUBLICANS and definitely not Tea Party people.  It's sad to see such people lose their minds!

...and here's a comic that I did a while back that encompasses my feelings exactly.

Eric Boehlert, Ring Wing Media and Hurricane Irene

Yeah.  I know.  How deranged is this?

The media today, and I don't mean conservative radio, is all about getting out there first with the ridiculous comments that are so ridiculous that nobody even wants to waste their breath refuting them.

Projection?  I am afraid that a lot of liberals out there were hoping that Irene was pretty bad for a couple reasons:
1.  Further proof that Global Warming must be addressed
2.  The earthquake earlier this month didn't do enough damage in the Northeast to be able to blame it all on Global Warming.
3.  Obama went to some Hurricane center to "take charge" so that he could be praised for taking charge.  He ended up looking like a fool by taking charge of nothing.
4.  Any natural disaster confirms the perceived need for federal government help which only helps liberals because they are the only ones out there who want government to get bigger and bigger.

Plus Mr. Boehlert, Liberals are the only ones who blame natural disasters on government officials that they don't like.  Remember Katrina and Bush??

I love Vince Flynn! (in a author/fan type way!)

I started listening to the audio book of American Assassin.  Another Vince Flynn masterpiece.  His action is so vivid that I am right there.  I'm not at work scanning book covers and putting books together, I'm at the training grounds with Hurley and Rapp (Irving) hearing the verbal abuse and really loving it.  My co-workers think I'm listening to my regular conservative podcasts but sometimes you need a break and Vince Flynn books are perfect.

This story is the origin story of Mitch Rapp and how he started and why he became the bad a$$ that he is.  Highly recommended.  Enjoy it.  Love it.  Because I do.

Note on the good writing:  In this particular book I heard one part when the shrink was talking to Rapp about his catholic faith.  The question was "how do you justify the idea that you believe what Jesus said about loving one another and the fact that you are becoming a trained killer?  Rapp's response was great.  He talked about how intellectually idiotic that question was because you have to ignore all the Old Testament.  That was a pretty quick and good come-back!

Economic Desperation Grips the US all because of Statism

bumper sticker: Democrats equal Food Stamps Republicans equal paychecks
IBD Editorials has an amazing article from a couple days ago called "Desperation on the Rise" There were a few things that I wanted to highlight that I learned:
This year, 3.3 million people are expected to apply to Social Security for disability benefits. That's 700,000 more than in 2008, and a million more than a decade ago. As a result, the Congressional Budget Office expects the program to run out of money in six short years.
1 million new Social Security recipients since 10 years ago.  That's sick.
This isn't the only sign of desperation out there. Nearly 46 million people are on food stamps — a 74% increase from 2007. The number of discouraged workers — those who've given up looking for a job — is 52% higher today than when Obama took office and 41% higher than when the recession ended way back in June 2009. The unemployment rate among blacks has topped 15% for 24 months — and now stands at 15.9%.
A 74% increase in food stamps since 2007??  That's sick.
Finally though they finish with this comment:
this growing sense of desperation is being met only by increased cluelessness from the White House.
It isn't cluelessness, it's on purpose.

Liberals... watch it and Weep. Marco Rubio is our Future President

A child of Ronald Reagan's America.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) spoke at an event at the Reagan Library in California Tuesday night. Here is his complete speech.

There's a transcript here:

Here's my favorite part:

We took these things upon ourselves and our communities and our families and our homes and our churches and our synagogues. But all that changed when the government began to assume those responsibilities. All of the sudden, for an increasing number of people in our nation, it was no longer necessary to worry about saving for security because that was the government’s job. For those who met misfortune, that wasn’t our obligation to take care of them, that was the government’s job. And as government crowded out the institutions in our society that did these things traditionally, it weakened our people in a way that undermined our ability to maintain our prosperity.
The other thing is that we built a government and its programs without any account whatsoever for how we were going to pay for it. There was not thought given into how this was going to be sustained.
This is so true and it's literally the death of the church and organized religion that actually helps people in the US.

Best East Coast Video from Virginia, felt in Western Mass

I felt it at work.  I saw stacks of books swaying back and forth.  I could definitely feel it.  This guy certainly could too.
I wrote this at the time...

"At about 2pm August 23rd I was sitting in the Digital Reproduction Department at work and we all felt the ground shake.  I looked out the window of the DR towards the conveyor belts and saw the lights swaying and the stacks of textbooks swaying back and forth.

I found out that there was a 5.8 magnitude earthquake in Virginia.  I'm at work so things are not clear.

Crazy."

All Democrats should listen to EconTalk

Econ Talk is an amazing site and podcast.  I would recommend anyone and everyone to go and listen to the most recent show.  It's about something as "everyday" as potato chips.  But the show is how they are produced, packaged and sold to millions of Americans.  The knowledge that the guest gives is the accumulation of years of hard work and innovation.  You might not like potato chips but how they get to your grocery store is truly an amazing story that all Americans should know and appreciate.

This is what all Democrats need to listen to.  This shows how much is involved in business and innovation and the American way of doing things.  When taxes go higher and higher, sure this business will continue to make money, and do well, but more people will be left out in the cold (no jobs) as Government continues to take money from the producers.

American business should be hailed and protected and praised... not bashed, demonized and trashed.  Republicans and Tea Partiers are supportive of true business and innovation.  Democrats are the ones who want to squeeze all the life out of all the producers in this country.

Democrats don't appreciate real business and innovation.  All they care about is how much money they can get from the producers and how much they can buy votes with that money.  I'm glad that I can listen to the show and marvel at the hard work and motivation that this company represents.  I'm not jealous of their fortune.  More power to them.

Go Econ Talk!

Government Regulations are Killing Business! Hear from the Real America! Roger Hedgecock clip

Thursday July 21st 2011 Roger Hedgecock had a legendary conversation with Stewart from Texas who is the son of an Organic Dairy Farmer.  Listen to how hard he works and how the Government hurts his business.  Roger says it at the end... this is the story that the media won't tell you!

Bill from California confirms that government regulation that was intended to help small business did EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE!

Roger Hedgecock is a national treasure.

Bill Maher, Marc Maron and Dan Savage LOVE the Constitution!

Yes, that's right.  Bill Maher, Marc Maron and Dan Savage LOVE the Constitution!  They love it so much that they might actually fight and die in order to defend it.  As would most Tea Partiers.  Our freedom of speech, enshrined in the first amendment of the Constitution, is alive and well in America today.  And we're all better for it.  Because we have people who use it so much that their idiocy just keeps on coming!

Over at Breitbart TV and then Media Research Center I saw this video today.  If you are at work and can't watch something like this, or don't want to, basically Bill Maher's guests Marc Maron (of Air America fame) are talking about having violent angry sex with Michelle Bachmann and Dan Savage (a frequent guest on MSNBC) talks about having violent gay sex with Rick Santorum.

There's not much to say.  I 100% support their right to say what ever the heck they want to say.  No ifs, ands or buts.

What they've done though is given us all the ammo that we needed.  Next time anybody on the conservative or Republican side ever talks about anything that liberals find "scary" or "violent" or "racist, sexist and bigoted" we can just say three words: Bill Maher's show.
"What does that mean?"
"You don't watch Bill Maher's Show?"
"Sometimes, but what does that have to do with anything?"
"In July of 2011, they were talking about having violent sex with 2 presidential candidates on the Republican side.  That doesn't come close to what I was just talking about."
"Well, I... um..."
"Yeah, let's talk after you have a chit chat with Mr. Maher."

Now, I don't watch the show and I'm commenting on the clip that was provided on MRCtv and it's possible that Bill Maher later apologized for Dan and Marc or even better yet that Marc and Dan apologized for themselves.  I don't know.  I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Keep up the good work boys.  When you continue to say idiotic things, it makes our Constitution ever stronger and more important!

NY Times Insinuates Herman Cain wants to kill 3 million people

I read a Herman Cain interview in the New York Times entitled "Ballad of the Longshot" by Andrew Goldman which was probably one of the dumbest, silliest, waste of time interviews I've ever read.  The last question sums it up nicely where Goldman insinuates that Herman Cain would like to kill 3 million people:
"You said of the Great Wall of China, “I think we could build one” as a solution to our immigration problems. Are you concerned that as many as three million Chinese died building it?"
I mean is that the dumbest question you've ever heard?  No issues.  Just questions about how Herman Cain said that Obama is not a strong black man.

The media thinks that they can make the Republican candidates look bad by doing ridiculous interviews and not asking substantive questions.  They are the ones who look like idiots, not the candidates.

Obama in 2009: If I can't turn the economy around there will be a 1 term proposition

Define: 1 term proposition!?  But another promise not made on the campaign trail but another promise made but not kept.  Seriously, if I had given money to his re-elect campaign... I would be hopping mad right now!

YouTube removing Obama Speeches because it violates their policy on scams and deceptive content!

I went looking for Obama's speech the other day about the economy and his health care plan.  Look what YouTube showed me:
Wow.  Looks like YouTube finally is getting with the program and not drinking the kool-aid.  Good job YouTube!  We conservatives are proud of you!

Tina Dupuy is Immature- My response to "The Rich Don't Create Jobs -- We Do"

Tina Dupuy, never heard of her until I saw this joke of an article, wrote said article where she claims that the non-rich are the ones who create demand and therefore create jobs. Not the people with money. Fascinating.
What creates jobs? Demand. You and me and all the other unwashed masses demanding a product or service forces businesses to hire more people. It’s not “the rich” out of the goodness of their hearts hiring poor slobs to help them out. It’s a simple Econ 101 staple: Supply and demand.
This is interesting because I've never heard it twisted like this before. Usually the supply and demand refers to oil or crops or something. The more supply the more demand and the prices go down. But this is from the perspective of the actual people. If people demand a widget therefore the company has to hire more people to create the widget. But this theory doesn't take into consideration why the people demand the widget in the first place. Somebody had to create the widget and then create the need to enable the people to now demand more. All that comes from somebody or some people.

She goes on to talk about how tax cuts are "unpaid for" which is just so old and so devious.  Tax cuts are not paid for because it's a tax cut meaning that it was money that the government never had their greedy little hands on in the first place.  You don't pay for that... that's money that was never supposed to be in the coffers to begin with.  What it sounds like is that these greedy government bureaucrats figured those taxes into their spending and therefore when that money didn't come in it messed up all the books.  Too bad.

She goes on to quote a man who was accused of rape which is kind of weird since I've never heard of a woman who actually looks up to a rapist and pervert.  But anyway...

The end is what really annoyed me.

The Democrats are pegged as the party of “tax and spend” – but at least when you TAX and spend – the spending is paid for.  Here’s some demand-side economics: Pay for spending. Tax the rich.

At least when you tax and spend the spending is paid for?  Paid for by whom?  The tax payers!  That means all the people who pay their taxes!  They could be spending their money on many other things bolstering this economy and with that money, according to Tina Dupuy, creating more demand... but no, the government knows better how to spend your money than you do!  And spending on what?  More and more programs that are proven to not work?  I have one simple question for Miss Dupuy from the last sentence in her article: "Tax the Rich."

Then what?
