IBD Editorials has an amazing article from a couple days ago called "Desperation on the Rise" There were a few things that I wanted to highlight that I learned:
This year, 3.3 million people are expected to apply to Social Security for disability benefits. That's 700,000 more than in 2008, and a million more than a decade ago. As a result, the Congressional Budget Office expects the program to run out of money in six short years.1 million new Social Security recipients since 10 years ago. That's sick.
This isn't the only sign of desperation out there. Nearly 46 million people are on food stamps — a 74% increase from 2007. The number of discouraged workers — those who've given up looking for a job — is 52% higher today than when Obama took office and 41% higher than when the recession ended way back in June 2009. The unemployment rate among blacks has topped 15% for 24 months — and now stands at 15.9%.A 74% increase in food stamps since 2007?? That's sick.
Finally though they finish with this comment:
this growing sense of desperation is being met only by increased cluelessness from the White House. It isn't cluelessness, it's on purpose.
