Reasonable Religious Accommodations

2010_12_15 Reasonable Religious Accomodations

Over at IOTW (I own the world) last night there was an article from the Daily Mail about a Chicago school.  First of all, how come we have to go to British newspapers to learn about this stuff.
Anyway, the article talked about how a Muslim woman wanted time off to go to Mecca.  The school denied her time off and she then quit and then with help, sued the school for discrimination.  The quote used in the comic above is from the article on IOTW:

The government asked the court to order the school district to adopt policies that reasonably accommodate its employees’ religious practices and beliefs, and to reinstate Khan with back pay and also pay her compensatory damages.
REASONABLY ACCOMMODATE HER RELIGIOUS PRACTICES and BELIEFS?  Hence the comic.  If they are going to reasonably accommodate her practices... then they'll reasonably accommodate my practices of a manger at Christmas and a cross at Easter, right?

I think not.
